The Jackson County School System has been named a 2025 Top Workplace by the USA Today.
The Jackson County School System will be sending a system-record 22 students to the State Technology Competition this March, following the regional competition in Barrow County last weekend.

Dr. Heather Allison has been approved to serve as the newest assistant principal at South Jackson Elementary School, following a vote by the Jackson County Board of Education on Thursday night.
Allison will become the second assistant principal at SJES, joining current assistant principal Dr. Em Smith Headley and principal Amy Adams. Allison currently serves as an Early Intervention Program teacher and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Coordinator at South Jackson Elementary, positions she has held since 2018.
The Jackson County School System saw an increase in scores from the End of Grade testing conducted at the conclusion of the 2022-23 school year. The State of Georgia released the scores Friday.
Students take Georgia Milestones End of Grade tests in grades three through eight and End of Course tests in four high school courses.
School and district-leaders from within the Jackson County School System visited local industry leaders from Jackson County during a leadership retreat on Friday, June 9.
The retreat started Friday morning with 74 leaders visiting six industrial leaders. The goal of the retreat was for leaders to gain a better understanding of the industry located in Jackson County and the opportunities that are available after graduation for the over 10,000 students within the Jackson County School System.
South Jackson Elementary School announces the addition of Dr. Em Smith Headley as the new assistant principal for the upcoming 2023-24 school year.
“I am excited for Dr. Headley to join me as a partner in the work at South Jackson. She is a great addition to the SJ family, as she brings a vast knowledge of academics, especially early literacy,” new South Jackson Elementary Principal Amy Adams said.
