  • Welcome to Pre-K at South Jackson Elementary!


    Welcome to South Jackson Elementary School’s Pre-K program! Our goal is to provide a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment where students are encouraged to explore, learn, and develop a lifelong love for learning. Through purposeful play and hands-on experiences, students build foundational skills in literacy, language, math, science, creativity, and social-emotional development while growing as confident learners. Our Pre-K classrooms celebrate each child’s unique interests and provide meaningful opportunities for children to develop cognitively, socially, emotionally, and physically as they prepare for their next step in learning.

    Welcome to kindergarten at South Jackson Elementary School! Our kindergarten classrooms provide a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment where students build foundational skills and develop a lifelong love for learning. Through hands-on experiences in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies, students grow into confident learners while developing their cognitive, social, and critical-thinking skills.

    Welcome to first grade at South Jackson Elementary School! Our first-grade classrooms provide a supportive and engaging environment where students continue building strong academic foundations while growing socially and emotionally. Students strengthen their reading, writing, and math skills through meaningful learning experiences that encourage problem-solving, independence, confidence, and a positive mindset.

    Welcome to second grade at South Jackson Elementary School! Our second-grade classrooms foster a love of learning through engaging, rigorous experiences that encourage students to become independent readers, writers, and mathematicians. Students build strong classroom communities while developing academic skills, confidence, problem-solving abilities, and independence as they continue to grow as learners.

    Welcome to third grade at South Jackson Elementary School! Our third-grade classrooms provide a safe, engaging, and challenging environment where students continue to grow as lifelong learners.     Welcome to fourth grade at South Jackson Elementary School! Our fourth-grade classrooms provide a nurturing and rigorous learning environment where students deepen their understanding and prepare for the transition to the upper grades. Students engage in experiences that encourage critical thinking, analysis, problem-solving, and meaningful connections across reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.

  • Welcome to 5th Grade at South Jackson Elementary!


    Welcome to fifth grade at South Jackson Elementary School! Our fifth-grade classrooms provide a safe, supportive, and academically challenging environment where students prepare for success in middle school and beyond. Through rigorous learning experiences across all content areas, students strengthen their problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking skills while becoming confident, independent learners.

  • At South Jackson Elementary, we believe in nurturing the whole child by providing opportunities for students to explore, create, and discover their unique talents. Through daily Specials classes in Art, Music, Physical Education, STEM, and Media Arts, students engage in hands-on experiences that promote creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and self-expression. These enriching opportunities help students build confidence, develop new skills, and become innovative thinkers prepared for success in and beyond the classroom.

  • What is Language Support?

    Language Support Services (also known as ESOL or EL) is a specialized WIDA language support program for Multilingual learners (MLL also known as ELL or EL). Multilingual learners are children and youth who are, or have been, consistently exposed to multiple languages.  Services are provided over time to expand what students can do with English language as they share ideas,  learn about the world around them, and form social and academic relationships. 

    ¿Qué es el soporte lingüístico?

    Language Support Services (también conocido como ESOL o EL) es un programa de apoyo lingüístico WIDA especializado para estudiantes multilingües (MLL también conocido como ELL o EL). Los estudiantes multilingües son niños y jóvenes que están, o han estado, constantemente expuestos a múltiples idiomas. Los servicios se brindan a lo largo del tiempo para expandir lo que los estudiantes pueden hacer con el idioma inglés a medida que comparten ideas, aprenden sobre el mundo que los rodea y forman relaciones sociales y académicas.

    How do students qualify for Language Support?

    Our school registration process includes the Home Language Survey form,  identifying students that may be Multilingual. Please talk with one of our language teachers or the school office if a language other than English was not written during registration on the Home Language Survey form.

    ¿Cómo califican los estudiantes para el apoyo lingüístico?

    Nuestro proceso de inscripción escolar incluye el formulario de Encuesta sobre el idioma del hogar, que identifica a los estudiantes que pueden ser multilingües. Hable con uno de nuestros profesores de idiomas o con la oficina de la escuela si no se escribió un idioma que no sea el inglés durante la inscripción en el formulario de Encuesta sobre el idioma del hogar.

    Testing and Participation in Language Support

    Eligible Multilingual (MLL) students take a short WIDA English proficiency screening test one time then if eligible, continue to take WIDA ACCESS each year to monitor English language proficiency growth in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Student progress is shared with parents at the start of each school year  along with student continued eligibility until reaching a 5.0 score and exiting the support program. 

    Pruebas y participación en el apoyo lingüístico

    Los estudiantes multilingües elegibles (MLL) toman una prueba corta de evaluación de dominio del inglés WIDA una vez y, si son elegibles, continúan tomando WIDA ACCESS cada año para monitorear el crecimiento del dominio del inglés en comprensión auditiva, expresión oral, lectura y escritura. El progreso del estudiante se comparte con los padres al comienzo de cada año escolar junto con la elegibilidad continua del estudiante hasta alcanzar una puntuación de 5.0 y salir del programa de apoyo.

    Jackson County Schools provide language services using WIDA English Language Development (ELD) Standards that align with the State of Georgia Standards of Excellence.  WIDA Language Standards Statements are:

  • South Jackson Elementary utilizes an innovative model to serve students identified as gifted while fostering a culture of advanced learning opportunities for all students. Through cross-curricular, project-based, and enrichment experiences, students are encouraged to think critically, explore their creativity, and make meaningful connections across content areas. Our classrooms provide rigorous and engaging learning experiences that challenge students, inspire curiosity, and encourage every learner to reach their highest potential.

  • At South Jackson Elementary, our Special Education Department is committed to providing individualized support and meaningful learning opportunities that meet the unique needs of every student. We believe all students can learn and achieve success when provided with high expectations, appropriate supports, and an environment that celebrates their strengths. Through collaboration with families, teachers, and support staff, we strive to develop each student’s academic, social, and emotional skills while equipping them with the tools they need to thrive in school and beyond.
