Music

In the music classroom, students will hear any and every kind of music.  From the music of different countries to classical to jazz, rock, country, and hip hop, the students of South Jackson explore it all.  Students clap, dance, and sing to experience the different terms and elements found in music, and of course, there are all the different instruments they learn to play.  In kindergarten, students will learn the basic percussion instruments like maracas and rhythm sticks and, over the years, will gain experience on more complex instruments like xylophones, ukuleles, and recorders.  Mrs. Atha loves to incorporate technology into the classroom and always likes to end a successful lesson with a game.  Most importantly, Mrs. Atha hopes that every student finds a way to experience and enjoy music that will stay with them throughout their life.
