Message from our Clinic Assistant, Ms. Cheek

A lot of parents ask, “When can my child go back to school after having the flu?” Keep your child home from school, day care, or camp for at least 24 hours after their fever is gone. (The fever should be gone without the use of a fever-reducing medicine.) A fever is defined as 100°F (37.8°C) or higher. In the past, we have been following the rule of sending students home with a fever greater than 100.4. Based on this new information from the CDC and US Dept of Health and Human Services –  100.0 or greater is considered a fever. BASED ON THAT, WE WILL SEND HOME STUDENTS EXCUSED WITH TEMP OF 100.0 OR HIGHER.
